Welcome to the homepage of the Historical Artillery Association. Our site is always under construction, so check back often, as we will be adding more things as we progress.
The members of the Historical Artillery Association are dedicated to the education, demonstration, and preservatiuon of "Black Powder Artillery". These same members, as "Stephens' Light Artillery" portray as accurately as possible the "cannoneers" and their drill. We are a family-oriented group and feel that there is a place for everyone. Women and children are welcome in our camp whenever we are not doing a campaign impression. On occasion we will "galvanize" as the Union Artillery "Knapp's Battery" to help maintain historical accuracy.
Normally most members attend from six to eight events per year, including Living Histories. We try to make one long distsnce trip to a large reenactment not in Georgia. If you have the desire to learn more about the Civil War, Artillery, and help teach the public about what it was really like, then make the effort to contact us.
Take some time to explore our site. We hope you enjoy your visit!
We welcome comments and feedback regarding any aspect of our group.

Music: Battle Cry of Freedom - Author George Root.
Although George Root's famous "The Battle Cry of Freedom was originally written as a rallying song for the Union and its supporters, it was nevertheless popular with Confederate troops as well, who wrote their own "Southside" verses.
The MIDI was made for the Civil War Poetry and Music Home Page by James Farris Chumbley, Web musician and 19th Century music interpreter extraordinaire. It follows very closely but is not identical to the original score as written by George F. Root.
It was set in Finale 3.5 after the composer's original score with slight alterations for acoustical grand computer by Mr. Chumbley, to whom we are enormously grateful for his hard work and his magnificent musical abilities.
